Connecting Google Search Console

Connecting Google Search Console is an optional step that feeds your site’s search-performance data into the Voris Signal Engine. Once connected, Voris can correlate what is happening in Google Search against the peaks and dips in your analytics — so you can see what drove a change in traffic.

This page explains what Voris accesses, why, and how to connect or disconnect at any time.

What this connection does

Search Console is Google’s free tool that reports how your site appears in Google Search — the queries people use, which pages show up, and how often they are clicked.

The Voris Signal Engine lines your Google Search Console data up against your traffic timeline, so a spike in impressions or clicks can be matched to a spike in visits. Search Console is the signal source Voris uses today.

You do not need Search Console to use Voris. Core analytics, Core Web Vitals, and AI-visibility tracking all work from the Voris script alone. Search Console simply adds another signal to the engine.

What Voris accesses, and why

When you connect, Voris requests read-only access to your Search Console data. This is the Google webmasters.readonly scope.

Voris uses this access for one purpose: to read the search-performance data for your site, including:

  • the search queries your site appears for,
  • the pages that appear in results,
  • clicks, impressions, and average position.

Voris correlates this data against your analytics traffic in the Signal Engine. That is the only thing this access is used for.

Voris only reads this data. We never modify, add, or remove anything in your Search Console account. We do not access your Gmail, Google Drive, or contacts, we never sell your Google data, and we never use it for advertising. See our Privacy Policy  for full details.

How to connect

  1. Open your site’s Settings and go to Signal Engine.
  2. In the list of sources, click Connect Search Console.
  3. You are taken to Google’s consent screen. Choose the Google account that owns the Search Console property.
  4. Review the read-only access request and click Allow.
  5. Google returns you to Voris, and the source shows as Connected.

What to expect

Voris checks Search Console once a day. Search Console itself also publishes search data on a delay: a given day’s clicks and impressions typically settle about two days later (Google’s own indexing latency). So after you connect, the first correlated signals appear within a day or two, and each day’s search spikes line up on your timeline roughly two days behind the date they happened. This is normal and comes from Google, not Voris.

How to disconnect

You can remove the connection at any time:

  1. Open your site’s Settings and go to Signal Engine.
  2. Find Search Console in the list of sources.
  3. Click Disconnect.

Disconnecting stops Voris from reading any further data. You can also revoke access directly from your Google Account permissions  page.
